Stefan Merriman will race:

Stefan is feeling much better and will be competing in the World Champs this weekend in Gernika, Spain. He recommenced cycling on Sunday 21st May, two weeks after the Spleenectomy operation according to instructions from the doctors.

He was told to keep his heart rate low as the artery leading to the spleen must be given time to seal properly. After four days cycling he decided to start with trials bike, just gently. Then he could wait no longer and went for a few days training with the enduro bike.

The doctors recommended to wait for one month after the operation (Sun 5th June) before recommencing training with motorbike, however Stefan felt good and after a few days training has decided to compete in the World Enduro Round in Spain this weekend. Although he is not 100% fitness he feels he will be fine to race. The docors have said it is OK. Despite not having much chance of winning the championship (with 3 DNF's) he still has the motivation to win each day for his sponsors.

We have walked the special tests and they are looking good, shorter than the other rounds (only approx. 4mins long as compared to 10 mins long in the first round in Spain). The weather is expected to be dry and sunny. The extreme test looks much like an indoor enduro, an artificial man made trials section with rocks, logs and water obstacles. Cross test is a fast flowing grass track on an off cambered paddock. The enduro test is a tight twisty track in a thick, dense pine forest.
Everything is fine here.

Thanks
