Townley’s Belgian Hopes Plagued By Technical Gremlins.:

The fourth round of the Belgian championships was held on the former GP circuit of Kester today. Magnificent weather conditions helped to pull a huge crowd that lined the banks of the picturesque circuit however it was to be a day to forget for Kiwi MX star, Ben Townley. After posting third fastest qualifying time, BT looked set do battle with the likes of Everts, Smets, and fellow KTM team-mate Steve Ramon.

Townley went on to post a fourth in both the first and second moto but not without any technical hiccups. The last straw was drawn when BT grabbed a magnificent hole-shot in the third and final race of the day, only to be forced to the side two laps later with more technical problems.

“This is not the result I needed,” grimaced Townley. “I’m not even going to think about it although one good thing is that I did get a hole-shot! My focus is on the Japanese GP in Sugo next week. My family are coming from New Zealand so it will be great to see them again. I’m really looking forward to it. I want to make sure that an orange bike wins in Japan! That would be awesome….”
