Team Castrol Honda go Endurance Racing:

Pukekohe Park Raceway is the place to be on May 7-8, for the VK Tracktime 300km NZ Endurance motorcycle race. With the four major Japanese manufacturers entered, Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki and Kawasaki, along with a sprinkling of more exotic bikes, the racing will be hard, fast and exciting. Two classes will be run, NZ Superbikes and the more standard 600cc Production Supersport racers.

Not seen in New Zealand for many years, a Le Mans start kicks off the televised-live 2 hour 10 minute event at 1.45pm. Riders and teams are already preparing their machines for race day Sunday, although first they have to make it past the hectic qualifying shootout.

One of the teams with a good chance of taking top honours must be the Castrol Honda Team, with Jared Love and Dean Fulton teaming up to make a formidable pair on a CBR1000RR Fireblade Superbike.
With two NZ Endurance titles under his belt, Love is no stranger to winning endurance races. The Robert Holden Memorial winner is confident of a close contest. A former NZ 600cc and Superbike champion, Fulton has good evidence of a recent close racing experience on his Fireblade. Mid-way through a race during the final round of the NZ road race champs at Pukekohe, his front brake lever broke off after mid-corner contact with Suzuki GSXR1000 rider Ray Clee. At speeds approaching 300kmh, Fulton completed the race with most of the lever missing!

Love speaks highly of his team-mate and their race prospects, “Throughout the season everyone has witnessed the ability of Dean. He is a flexible rider and picks things up real quick. We’re both willing to compromise - I’m very lucky having Dean.” “Our Castrol Honda Team has been constantly improving and the last round of the NZ champs at Pukekohe was a fitting end to the season. Result wise we want to win, at the nationals five of us were all within a second of each other, so it’s going to come down to a pit stop or a back marker. Or if someone’s willing to do something special to win.”
