New Plymouth Hosts The Premiere Junior Event:

On the same weekend that NZ sensations Ben Townley (Taupo) and Joshua Coppins (Motueka) contest round three of the World Motocross Championships in Portugal, the NZ Junior Championships will be held in New Plymouth.

Their protégées, numbering 292, will assemble in New Plymouth on Friday for the 3 day meeting. The riders, aged between 8 and 17 years have their aspirations being played out on the other side of the world.

The 292 riders have been putting in hard work over the past months training for what is NZ biggest Junior Motorcycle event on the calendar, supported by Kawasaki NZ and Silkolene.

Motorcycling New Zealand’s only female member of the High Performance Squad, Katherine Prumm (Kawasaki) is competing in her last Junior event mixing it with the "boys", before heading off to Australia to compete in the Senior Women’s championship.

Racing this weekend starts Friday and goes through until Sunday. The 292 riders is a record and includes riders from Australia.

There should be plenty to celebrate by Sunday evening.
