CASTROL HONDA RED RIDERS - PRESS RELEASE:

National Motocross Champ Adds Four-stroke Title:

National Motocross Champion Shayne King added the 250cc and 450cc 4 stroke titles to his growing list at Te Awamutu over the Easter weekend. The Castrol Honda Red Rider headed off competition from many of New Zealands top ranked riders including brother Darryl and team mate Peter Broxholme.
"It was fantastic to come away with wins in the 250 and 450 classes. The bikes performed perfectly in the 17 races I rode over the weekend which is a real testament to the Honda CRF range" commented King.

The Te Awamutu track was fast and flowing and combined both rough and bermed corners to test a riders ability. The racing soon cut through the grass paddock to provide what many riders thought was one of the more enjoyable racetracks in the country. "The speed of the track made the racing really enjoyable while it was still technical enough to test a riders ability" says Broxholme.

Broxholme, who was unlucky to finish third in the 450cc class tied on points with Darryl King and a count back gave King second place. In the 250cc class Broxholme also secured third place which capped off a successful weekend for the Castrol Honda Red Riders.

The sole female on the Castrol Honda Red Rider race team, Mary Perkins rode an outstanding race to clinch the 250cc womans title. "I am just thrilled with this win as I have really been working on my fitness recently. It’s great when the hard work pays off said Perkins.
