Lessons Don't Stop
In April:

Schools in New Zealand may be closed for the April school holidays from the middle of next month but don't expect the teaching to stop. New Zealand's elite junior motocross riders will be out to dish up dirt bike lessons to their rivals on the gnarly slopes of the Barret Road circuit in New Plymouth as the New Zealand Junior Motocross Championships explode over the weekend of April 22-23.

Expect to see Taupo's Brad Groombridge and Masterton's Mason Wilkie battling handlebar-to-handlebar over the weekend with likely challenges also from young riders like Pukekohe's Katherine Prumm, Cambridge's Kirk Bezzant, Whitianga's William Saywell, Paraparaumu's Jesse Donnelly and Wellington's Jayden Jessup.

For some of the title contenders, this event will be their final crack at a junior crown before hitting the senior ranks and possibly venturing abroad to tackle the elite from Australia and beyond.

It was just a few years ago that current MX2 champion Ben Townley and Australian Mister Motocross Pro Lites leader, Luke Burkhart were rubbing plastic on the junior Kiwi scene ... and now look at what they're doing.
