Sunday was the first round of the 2005 FAST EDDY RACE SERIES @ HAWKSTONE PARK. PAUL WHIBLEY finished 3rd behind winner PAUL EDMONDSON (Honda) and runner-up RYAN VOASE (Kawasaki). As expected Fast Eddy himself won the event with EX GP Motocross rider RYAN VOASE in second place. Whibz had an initial good start but fell on the first lap losing quite a few places.
At the end of the first lap Eddy and Voasy were gone with Whibz moving through the field. He eventually got into third place but was struggling a little with a 'too-soft' suspension setup on the sandy, whooped out course. He also ran a 13 litre petrol tank (9.5 standard) which also affected the handling. He was lapping similar lap times to Ryan but could not close the 3 minute gap between them.
GAS GAS dealer supported (KB RACING) rider, ANDREW CRIPPS was the next best GG rider who finished a creditable 18th in the PRO CLASS, 2 laps ahead of GGUK rider TOM SAGAR. TOM finished in a very low 27th place with no problems or excuses, just confirming that Tom is not a 3 hour specialist (yet) and an increase in fitness training is desperately needed !
GAS GAS chief spannerman KEV HIPWELL once again 'threw on' his 80s style MX boots and cruised round to win the Clubman 250 class aboard an EC200 with STU DAY in second also on an EC200!
17 year old GAS GAS employee LUKE MEREDITH blitzed the Clubmen 125cc class in his first 3 hour race. Luke races regular MX so had no problem with the sandy Hawkstone terrain and was certainly impressive.
