SsangYong 600 Sports Production Championship Title Confirmed:

Motorcycling New Zealand’s Road Race Championship Co-ordinator, Paul Stewart, confirmed the standings in the SsangYong 600 Sports Production Championship today from his Auckland base.

The Championship had been run over four rounds, two in the South Island in December and two in the North Island in February/March. The racing had been hard and fast from the very first race at Ruapuna, with all of the major Japanese brands represented. The Championship lead had been fought out by the defending Champion, New Plymouth’s Shaun Harris (Suzuki), Hamilton’s Andrew Stroud (Suzuki), Palmerston North’s Craig Shirriffs (Suzuki) and Timaru’s Johnny Hepburn (Kawasaki).

Stroud, assured he had enough points to take the Championship, sat out the NZTT title race at the last round at Pukekohe, to concentrate on the Suzuki NZ Superbike Championship and the NZ TT title for that class. Immediately after the last race for the class at round four on March 6, the top machines where stripped for technical checks and the riders have had to wait anxiously for the official declaration of the Championship standings.

SsangYong 600 Sports Production - Official Results:
Andrew Stroud, Hamilton, Suzuki, 1;
Shaun Harris, New Plymouth, Suzuki, 2;
Craig Shirriffs, Palmerston North, Suzuki, 3.
