No MotoGP Wet Weather
Stoppages in 2005:

The FIM Announcment: that MotoGP races will run without interruption by weather conditions in 2005 - with riders allowed to pit for a change of machinery or tires if climatic conditions change - was made by the Grand Prix Commission after meeting in Barcelona on Saturday.

The new regulations state that - “A race will not be interrupted for climatic reasons and riders who wish to change machine (when allowed), tires or make adjustments must enter the pits and do so during the actual race.”

Then - “Unless the race is interrupted, after the leading rider has passed the finish line at the end of his first lap, no further changes of machines are permitted.”

At that point, however, two new rules apply. A race declared wet allows changing machines any time during the race. If the race hasn’t been declared wet at the start, machines can be changed only when white flags have been displayed around the track.

Another new rule is a 60 kph speed limit that will be enforced in the pit lane. No overtaking will be allowed from the speed limit in, to the speed limit out signs. Any rider who overtakes in the pit lane during a race will be given a stop-and-go penalty.
