Timaru’s Johnny Hepburn home after taking his SPV Kawasaki to fifth overall in the SsangYong 600 Sports Production Championship last weekend at Pukekohe Park, just south of Auckland, is now preparing to do some racing closer to home, in a slightly larger vehicle.
"This year’s road race champs have been great for me, we have had our ups and downs but overall I am happy with the outcome," said Hepburn from his Timaru base this week.
But with the cancellation of the John Britten meeting at Ruapuna on the 19/20 of March, the way was clear for Hepburn to return to Truck racing. To this end Hepburn has been successful in re-securing his drive with RV COPPER TRUCK RACING Team, to race their KM Bedford at the upcoming event on his home track, Levels Raceway, just outside Timaru.
The 750 hp of the 6V 92 Detroit is a long way from the 600cc he is used to from his SPV Kawasaki. "I am really looking forward to getting back into the truck. Last year we did well so bring it on," said Hepburn
