The Love Machine is Ready for Manfield:

Jared Love handles the media spotlight superbly and doesn’t let constant distractions from multiple pre-Paeroa radio and newspaper interviews affect his on-track performance - including his exclusive post-race TV1 interview, televised nationwide on the 6.00pm news on Sunday evening. Fresh from his win in Sunday’s Robert Holden Memorial Trophy at Paeroa, Love is all fired up for this weekends third round of the New Zealand Superbike championship at Manfield. After further development work to his Castrol Honda CBR1000RR, Love said his bike was as fast as any of his competitors along Paeroa’s front straight. And, after losing 12kgs through a successful SureSlim diet programme, the Hamilton-based professional racer is confident of winning against the most competitive field of riders and motorcycle brands seen in NZ in a long time.

The first two rounds late last year where held in inclement weather, leaving Suzuki GSX-R1000 rider Bruce Anstey (Wellington/UK) with a narrow 12 point lead ahead of Ray Clee (Auckland), riding a similar machine. Defending champ Andrew Stroud (GSX-R1000, Hamilton), Tony Rees (Yamaha R1, Whakatane) and Dean Fulton all had mixed results to their season to date and will be gunning their machines for all they are worth to be first across the line. With 75 points from three races up for grabs at Manfield, it’s still too early to pick a title winner, and Love will have to lift his game to yet another level to be in with a chance.

After sitting out the Battle of the Streets series, Castrol Honda team-mate Dean Fulton (Tauranga) makes a welcome return to circuit racing.

Close racing at high speeds will draw the crowds, just as they did at Wanganui (10,000) and Paeroa (12,000) recently. Superbike points; Anstey, 115: Clee, 103: Rees, 99: Stroud, 90: Fulton, 78: Love, 59.

(Look for Paeroa Battle of the Streets coverage on TV One's Shell Helix Motorsport programme, on Sunday afternoon).
