Manfield - The place to be on Sunday:

Road Race Champs Resume:

The cream of New Zealand’s road racers will descend on Manfeild Autocourse this weekend February 26/27 for round three of the 'Motorcycle Trader and News' New Zealand Road Race Championship. Some of the racers have had a break following the two South Island rounds in December, while many have been pitching their skills against each other and the modified streets of Wanganui and Paeroa at the "Battle of the Streets" meetings.
However this week they will all be focusing on the continuation of the Championship.

Superbikes will see the Suzuki quartet of Bruce Anstey (UK/ Wellington), Andrew Stroud (Hamilton), Ray Clee (Auckland) and Brian Bernard (Wanganui) battling with the Honda pairing of Jared Love (Hamilton) and Dean Fulton (Mt Maunganui), along with Yamaha’s Tony Rees (Whakatane) and Kawasaki’s pairing of Lance Lowe (Auckland) and Glen Williams (Palmerston North).
This is the first season in a very long time that all of the major distributors have been represented in New Zealand’s premier road racing class.

In the 600 Sports Production class the clash between Johnny Hepburn (Timaru) on his Kawasaki and the Suzuki trio of Shaun Harris (New Plymouth), Craig Shirriffs (Palmerston North) and Andrew Stroud (Hamilton) will be on again. Hepburn came away from round two in Invercargill fired up after Andrew Stroud forced his way through to take the win in the last race.

All the other classes will also be represented, Formula Three, 125cc Grand Prix, 250cc Grand Prix and of course the ever exciting Sidecars.

With the resumption of the New Zealand Road Race Championships the battle for the RK Samurai Trophy will also begin in earnest.
The RK Samurai Trophy is presented to the Production Superbike rider with the highest points at the end of the Championship running RK Chain. We have already had two rounds of the Championship in the South Island before Christmas and now move to the North for the final two rounds at Manfield this weekend and Pukekohe the next (March 5/6).

With the star-studded field in Production Superbikes, the racing is hard and fast, giving a true indication of the reliability of RK Chain.
