Bring On Manfield:

Whakatane motorcycle dealer, Tony Rees fresh from racing on the streets of Paeroa at the Yamaha "Battle of the Streets" meeting on Sunday 20 February, is now really looking forward to resuming the battle for the New Zealand Road Race Championships this weekend at Manfield Autocourse.

Rees missed round one of the "Battle of the Streets" at Wanganui on Boxing Day due to commitments at SummerCross 04, run by the Bay of Plenty Motorcycle Club of which he is President.
This did him no favors last weekend at Paeroa, as it meant he had to race off the second row of the grid in the star-studded Formula Paeroa and Robert Holden Memorial Race.

Rees got a good start in race one of the Formula Paeroa but was involved in a racing incident with Kawasaki mounted Lance Lowe from Auckland, which left Lowe out of the race and Rees finishing 10th.

In the Robert Holden race Rees was boxed in at the start, but fought his way through to finish third behind Andrew Stroud (Suzuki) and man of the day, Jared Love (Honda).

In the last Formula Paeroa race Rees again had to come from row two but fought his way past Love and was gaining on a charging Stroud when the chequered flag fell.
"It has been a hard day, but a good one," Rees said after racing. "Starting from the second row is always difficult, but next weekend at Manfield will be a different story," he added at the prizing giving.
