Power Adventures: Press Release:

Power Adventures This Last Weekend:

Hi Everyone,

This weekend proved successful yet again with a double header for us being:

Saturday - Saturday Summer Scrambles – Round 4 Fells Farm Kaukapakapa
Sunday - Family Freedom Fun Day - Woodhill Forest

'Off Road Motorcycles' Saturday Summer Scrambles:

Saturday was a fun event as usual with well over 150 riders having a ball. Interestingly, the local content has been boosted by riders from as far away as Kaikohe and TeAwamutu. This made for interesting racing as the locals didn’t know who they were dealing with from race to race. The format of different classes every race (Engine capacity, Age group and Grading) meant you were racing different people every race.

Honda proved themselves to be the dominant force winning all the age group (Points) races apart from the Minis. This was appropriate seeing as 'Off Road Motorcycles' (the local HONDA dealer) is the sponsor of the series.

The CRF230 racing was the most popular for the spectators who saw the need for skill and determination as horsepower was not a dominate feature. However, Power did play its part in the form of Christopher Power who was masterful in the down hill off camber corners where he passed all and sundry with ease. Even handicapping Christopher in the Points Race made no difference as he made up the ¼ lap handicap to win easily. Christophers result is not counted in the series as we decided early that Chris was ineligible for points as we wanted to give all the CRF230 owners a good chance of a trophy. This is working well.

Christopher won all the races he rode including the feature. His CRF450R is now running a Pro Circuit pipe and the suspension has been re-valved for better traction. Added to this the Michelin tyres, Castrol lubrication and of course the Chiaravalli Sprockets and Regina chain, he is having little difficulty in these club events. It sure looks good for Honda and No Fear to see him out in front playing with the field, Styling it up whenever he gets the opportunity.

Three CRF250 junior racers were invited into the Senior feature. Amazingly, they took third, fourth and fifth places ahead of all the other seniors – quite embarrassing really. They are 14 and 15 year olds. A big boost to their confidence. Occasionally we do this to encourage these juniors. They are picked carefully as we don’t allow juniors to race with Seniors on a regular basis.

Luke Uhrle appeared for the first time on his CR125 which is fitted with Pro Circuit pipe and of course he wears the team No Fear gear. Luke is coming to grips with the CR125 and enjoying the challenge. He has improved his riding markedly since his coaching session with Broxy and some time riding with Christopher. Luke had a ball on his mums CRF230 trying hard to match it with Chris and the power to weight ratio of his 55 kg certainly paid dividends against Christophers 92 kg.

All in all a great event and even my granddaughter Naketa rode her CRF100 in the junior races. Publicity was great and the good vibes even better.
The final round is on March 26 at Annandales in Kumeu. It looks to be a fantastic event.

'Honda Riders Club' - Family Freedom Fun Day

Excellent again with heaps of riders turning up for the Sunday trail ride and kids tracks. Once again the lolly scramble and sausage sizzle were popular as were the spot prizes draw. Riders from further a field commented that they didn’t get anything like the goodies, service and fantastic organisation at their local events so I guess we must be doing something close to right.

No injuries at all - is the hallmark of our family days and long may it continue. The interest of new riders is amazing as family after family turned up to give riding a Honda motorcycle a go. We managed to get another 15 or so kids who had never ridden motorcycles before away around the learners track. It is really gratifying to see. The families are still keen to get all the kids out into the fresh air and have a good time with people who are healthy, friendly and are keen on exercise. Far better than being inside in front of a computer/TV screen or hanging out at the local mall.
So a great event and lots of positive feed back. Roll on the Family Camp Out Weekend for kids – this is always popular.

This coming weekend is the 'Sundowner' which is a Trail Ride at Port Waikato. This is a great event sponsored by 'Counties Honda' and the 'Honda Riders Club'.
You may like to venture out for a ride.

Cheers for now
