Jared Love Returns To Paeroa:

Jared Love will be fully wired at Paeroa this Sunday as he legally streaks down Paeroa’s main shopping centre (on SH2) at speeds well over 250kmh. The Hamilton professional motorcycle racer is running a heart rate monitor to measure his fitness levels during the final round of the Battle of the Streets races. A far cry from when Love had a practice crash at the same street circuit four short years ago - when he was almost killed. Doctors gave him only a 15% chance of living because of multiple serious injuries.

After Wanganui on Boxing Day, Love co-leads the prestigious Robert Holden Memorial Trophy series with Craig Shirriffs (Suzuki GSX-R600), who each recorded a win and a second place.

This year Love returns to Paeroa with the powerful Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade Superbike, and has a point to prove to both himself and his fans. He is serious about winning and is doing everything possible to ensure he takes home the Battle of the Streets title.

Love heads to Paeroa 12kgs lighter. “I train quite hard and I’ve been trying to drop my weight by getting the right guidance from SureSlim. I’ve lost 12 kilos that I’m not carrying anymore. I’m putting a lot of time and effort on my Honda, and now I need to start putting a lot back into my mind and body, which is all part of the package. I think it is going to be a huge gain for me at Paeroa,” Love said.
“This is the first time I’m back there on a Superbike, so it’s going to be a good one. Paeroa holds a lot of sentimental values and a lot of feelings for me, and I’m definitely going to win at Paeroa. We’ve made some very good improvements to the Fireblade, but its handling at Wanganui, as you saw on TV, is the best out there.”

Tough competition around the ‘Hacksaw Circuit’ will come from the virtual King of Paeroa, Tony Rees (Yamaha R1), current NZ Superbike champion Andrew Stroud, Brian Bernard and Isle of Man TT winner Bruce Anstey (all Suzuki GSX-R1000s), to name a few.
