Salminen And Kearney - 1st & 2nd:

The Suzuki Grand National Cross Country Series is billed as America's largest off-road series and at the 2005 opening round in Texas, two off road riders travelled to America and tested the water for the first time with quite amazing success.

The ten-time 28 year old World Champion from Finland, Juha Salminen (KTM) snatched the win away from the locals and the 24 year old Australian Enduro Champion Glenn Kearney (Suzuki) had a dream introduction by taking out second place.

The 13 round series attracts up to 1400 competitors and the results on the weekend must provide a gauge for the Kiwi riders campaigning in Europe - Stefan Merrriman, Paul Whibley and this year, Chris Birch who may consider taking on the Yanks in the more financially rewarding series.
