Hepburn Hot Under The Collar:

The cancellation of the John Britten Memorial event in Christchurch on March 20, which was also to be the final round of both the Superbike and 600 Sports Production Championships, has led to many road racer’s season’s campaigns being disrupted. Timaru’s Johnny Hepburn is one who is particularly upset by the cancellation.

The 39-year-old scrap metal dealer gave up his Truck Racing drive to concentrate on campaigning his SPV Kawasaki sponsored ZX6 in the 600 Sports Production Championship. As the "Britten" event was scheduled for the same weekend as the truck racing at his home track of "Levels" in Timaru.

"Yes, I’m annoyed. I really enjoyed my truck racing and to give that up and then have the "Britten" event cancelled, has really gutted me," said Hepburn from his Timaru base.

Hepburn however is really looking forward to the resumption of the championship on February 26/27 at the Manfield Autocourse.
