Whakatane Yamaha dealer, Tony Rees is ready and raring to go at round two of the "Battle of the Streets" at Paeroa on Feb 20 after missing round one at Wanganui on Boxing Day, because of commitments to his club’s annual Xmas motocross. Rees has raced at all but one of the twelve Paeroa events, having sat out last year’s event as Yamaha’s new R1 had only just arrived in the country.
The ex-Superbike Champion has had twelve months to develop his R1 and is really looking forward to racing on what he considers his home track.
"It was really hard sitting out last year, just doing the few demo laps on the new R1 made me realize just how much I really love racing at Paeroa," said Rees from his Whakatane base this week.
"It is great to race in front of a huge crowd, especially when that crowd is so close," Rees added.
Sunday February 20, Paeroa will be the place to be.
