FIM MXI on TV:

Gerald Woods is one of exceptions to the rule - that motorcyclists are an apathetic bunch. In 2004 he sent a flurry of emails to Youthstream: the FIM media agents in a valiant attempt to get TV coverage last year.
We did eventually get some pretty memorable coverage that enabled us to see the young Kiwi, Ben Townley win the MX2 class and a fellow Kiwi, Josh Coppins gain a very respectable 3rd place in the blue ribbon MX1 class.
That was due to input from KTM after a bit of lobbying by the Townley family.

After an SB reader enquired if there would be any TV coverage of the FIM World MX GPs in 2005 Gerald was one of the non-pathetic movers I contacted and this is the reply from Youthstream's Philippe Rahmani;

Yes the deal is confirmed with SKY and even with TVNZ too who will show footage of MXI class only from our 52' programmes. Good news isn't it ?
Cheers,
Philippe Rahmani
TV & IT Director

That is great news (I have emailed for confirmation) for Kiwi fans and although it is somewhat disappointing that we won't get MX2 we will be getting the big one, MX1, and this year you will have two Kiwis to focus on as they do battle with the rest of the world - except the Americans.

On that note - it appears that SKY will not be showing the AMA series. Does this concern you? Does it concern you enough to remove yourself from the afore mentioned 'apathetic bunch' and get off your arse and do something??
No big deal as you are reading this on the internet, so logo onto Matt.Hunt@tvnz.co.nz and Anna.Gowan@tvnz.co.nz and sky@skytv.co.nz and dicken@skytv.co.nz and beg and grovel like never before.
If you don't care enough we wont get to see it and YOUR sport misses out - again.

Oh, and don't forget to mention your immense gratitude for getting to see MX1!!
