KAWASAKI TEAM GREEN - Press Release:

Big Month for Team Green:

Kawasaki Team Green have covered some miles so far during the month of January. They began the month with a trip to the South Island for round one of the SuperX Championship at Motueka and while there they did two instore promotions, one at Filco Farm and Sport in Nelson and other at Peter Grinter’s in Blenheim. It was then back to the North and Tokoroa for round two.

Team Green had a good night under the lights at Tokoroa, Rotorua’s Michael Phillips rode strongly to finish 5th for the night in the 125cc class, giving him 7th overall in the Championship.

Taupo’s Brad Groombridge rode consistently to finish 2nd in the 13-16 years 85cc class, giving him 4th overall in the Championship.

While fellow Taupo rider, Shaun Halsall had his maiden SuperX ride and put in a sterling performance, finishing 3rd on the night in the 11-12 years 85cc.

Cambridge’s Michael Cotter put in a single race appearance on his KX250-R, posting a second behind class winner Daryl Hurley that bodes well for his build up for the New Zealand Grand Prix at Woodville at the end of the month.

Meanwhile the Cross Country Team where competing at "RAGLAN ROX" - a 4 hour cross country event run by the Raglan Motorcycle Club.

The Tauranga pairing of Ben Thomason and Anton Giacon took their Bay City Motorcycles KDX200 to as high as 6th overall, before firstly bending a gear lever and then got a puncture. Thomason mounted the bike and rode the last 30km lap with a flat rear tyre to ensure their win in the 0-200cc two-stroke class and 16th overall.

Whakatane’s Joel Burns paired with Norsewood’s Kevin Hermanson on Burns’ Underwood and Wilkins supported KX250-F took the win in the 0-300 four-stroke class, but not without incident. Hermanson unfamiliar with the 250–F was unable to start the machine until everyone had left, but he used all of his experience to push through to as high as 4th overall, but several other mishaps saw the pairing relegated to 10th overall at the finish.
