The Korean motor vehicle manufacturer, represented by Ssangyong Benelux, have signed an endorsement agreement with newly crowned MX2 World Champion, Ben Townley. The deal, which is also supported by Ssangyong New Zealand: will see the twenty year old sporting the Ssangyong line of vehicles on both the northern and southern continents.
Townley has chosen the dynamic REXTON: model which blends the muscular physique of an SUV with the elegant contours of a passenger car – a sophisticated new look that's in tune with the times. The 2.7 litre, five cylinder, direct injection, common rail, turbo diesel engine will no doubt make Townley the envy of all his fellow racers.
The Kiwi was all smiles as he was handed the keys to his very own sign written REXTON: “Wow, what an awesome set of wheels!” exclaimed Townley. “I really love the look of the REXTON and the power and handling are second to none. I am honoured and proud to be associated with Ssangyong and I hope this will be a long lasting relationship that will last for my entire career.”
Mr. Wim Busser, director of Ssangyong Benelux, was indeed excited about this new venture: “This sponsorship with Ben Townley is a unique opportunity for us to be involved in the motocross world. MX is a sport which we can relate with our products. Ssangyong is specialized in 4x4 power, and it’s that power which makes the link to motocross obvious.”
The Ssangyong name, meaning “Twin Dragons”, endorses the new relationship between these two partners as Ssangyong supports Ben on his quest to a second world title, this time in the premier MX 1 class.
