The GNCC Hots Up For The Final:

Sean Clarke (Suzuki), Robert Howe and Christopher Power took the first three placings in the fourth GNCC for this season ahead of World No 6 Paul Whibley (GasGas). Paul never got a good start to the day with the first puddle of water stopping his GasGas. Sean Clark took off to a runaway win in this No Fear Elite class ahead of Robert Howe who passed Chris Power in the pits when Chris had to make an extra fuel stop, as his bike won’t do more than 70 minutes on one tank of gas. Whibley was disappointed with his woes, but realises that it is better to find out the small problems now and have them fixed rather than in a world enduro round. Clarke said afterwards - that he attributed his win to the S12 Michelin tyre that enabled him to find traction everywhere and the real tractable power and really plush suspension of his RM250 Suzuki made the ride real easy for him.

The FFM Helmets Clubmans class proved that age and wisdom do not necessarily make for winners. Three 14 yr old lads - Gary Almond, Sam Greenslade and Damon Nield showed the seniors amongst them how it was done. Had it been an MNZ sanctioned event, these lads would never have been able to show their skills.

The Alpine stars Quad Class is hotting up with a promise of an exciting finish at Tokoroa, the second weekend in February. Alistair Cole and Andrew Dwyer on Hondas came in ahead of Suzuki mounted Adam Youren. The final round will determine the final outcome. It couldn’t be closer.

Andrew Mitchell took his Kawasaki to a win in the Castrol Rookies class ahead of Yamaha riders, Brad Clayton and Trevor Flooks. The series leader Greg Muller has yet to drop a round, which could be his downfall.

The Youth class was a hot one after the Waimiha animosity - but a new race dawned and Maramarua proved to be the downfall of Ethan Martins (Yamaha) who was baulked by a lapped rider only a couple of hundred metres from the finish to allow eventual winner Luke Uhrle (Honda) claim his third win for the season. He will be hard to beat at Tokoroa.

A great GNCC and we look forward to the final round on the 12/13 February 10 km South of Tokoroa on SH 1. All riders of other makes are welcome to attend and even compete.
