Hepburn Set for the Streets:

Timaru’s Johnny Hepburn is set to again spend Xmas away from home. Ever since he can remember, Xmas has involved traveling north to Wanganui to prepare for the Boxing Day "Battle of the Streets" event around the Wanganui Streets. Hepburn’s fiancée Carmen commented at the recent championship meeting at Invercargill, that she was now calling him the "Grinch" because he had stolen Christmas.

However racing is racing and the 39-year-old scrap metal dealer has some unfinished business. He is bring his SPV Kawasaki sponsored ZX6 to show his old adversaries such as, New Plymouth’s Shaun Harris and Palmerston North’s Craig Shirriffs, that he and the new ZX6 will be the team to beat.

"I am really looking forward to Wanganui this year. All the manufacturers will be represented and if the South Island championship rounds are anything to go on, the racing will be hard, fast and very close," Hepburn said with a laugh from his Timaru base this week.

This year is the 50th running of the "Cemetery Circuit" and with their new SsangYong sponsorship the organisers are hope for fine conditions.
