GNCC Successful at Waimiha:

The team set up at Waimiha in the King Country south of TeKuiti and ran the third round of the GNCC Series this past weekend (11/12 December).
All the team riders were pleased to be able to front up in their new gear being No Fear, Alpine Stars, Spy and Tag. Much was said in the pits about the professional look of the team and the quality of the product. It was very impressive to see all the different styles, colours and combinations thereof. A real showcase!
Following is a summary of the GNCC Series

Honda Riders Club Ladies Class: Michelle Waghorn (YZ125) took the Ladies class from CRF205X mounted Laresia Meharry while Robyn Stace rode her CR125 into third place. The series is dominated by Waghorn, however 9 of the 12 bikes entered so far are Honda CRF models with the exception of Robyn's CR.

FFM Clubman: Damon Neild rode his KTM into first ahead of Gary Almond on a RM125. Brett Wotton on his KTM took out third ahead of Sam Greenslade riding a CR125. However, Gary Almond leads the series from Jim Corbett on a CR250 followed by Brett Wotton.
Neild did not front at Matata so has already dropped a round.
Even Greg Power rode in the Clubman Class on his CRF250X. Being his first race for nearly 10 years, he was apprehensive. From 11th on the first lap, Greg faded to eventually finish 18th in the class having recovered from a 4th gear mishap with a pine tree. Mind you, he did look the flashest in the complete ensemble with Blue No Fear, bright Red AlpineStars and Spy Goggles.

Kiwi Rider Youth: Whilst CR85 mounted Luke Uhrle (resplendent in his Silver/Red No Fear clothing) crashed heavily requiring first aid treatment, he still leads the Youth class by four points over Jamie Ainsworth (RM85) followed by Ethan Martens on a YZ125. This is the closest competition in any of the classes.

Alpinestars Quads: Mike Higgie (LTZ400) is back in the lead of the series after Roger MacDonald (YZF450) suffered a broken wheel at Waimiha. Higgie came back from a Matata crash to win convincingly - however Motorcycle Star, Adam Youren (LTZ400), having only ridden two of the three rounds is currently in 10th place after 2nd at Waimiha.

Castrol Rookies: Honda pilots, Greg Muller (CRF250X) and Darren Mitchell (CRF450R) lead the Rookie Series with Graham Schick EXC200 in Third. Andrew Mitchell on a KXF250 has had two wins and did not start Matata, so he is in a good position back in 4th.

RK Experts: Similar to the Rookies, the Experts has a 4th placed rider with two wins and one DNS in Hayden Power on a YZF250. However, Peter Flexman (EXC250) has a commanding lead over Paul Burgess (EXC250) and Clinton Seconi (CR250) who are tied on series points.

Bridgestone Pro:Reece Burgess on his KTM leads the series from Chris Jeffery's GasGas while Maurice Ebbett on a YZF250 holds third. However the day went to Stephen Gray on his KTM who ran away with a 5 minute win. Third place Gary Powell on a WR450 was only 19 seconds behind fast improving Mitchell Neild who scored a fine second place.

No Fear Elite: In this the premier class, Power Racing still holds the first three places in the Series. Karl Power (CR250) is in first with Mikael Lundin (CRF250X) in second. Christopher Power moved up from fourth to hold third spot in the series on his CRF450. Sean Clarke (RM250) has two wins and a DNS so is still the threat of the series and his team mate Stephen Croad (RM250) is also prominently placed after missing Matata also and taking second at Waimiha.

So another successful weekend with the most serious injury being reserved to organiser Greg Power who had a suspected fractured L hand and puncture wound to his right forearm. However the most serious injury was to his pride after being walloped by the young up and coming riders in the Clubman class.
