Whakatane Yamaha motorcycle dealer, Tony Rees fresh from a third in his class in the recent Targa Rally in his Monaro, is ready to return to motorcycling racing.
The former Superbike Champion will return to contest the New Zealand Superbike Championship after a year off, on his new Yamaha R1, which he has only just finished building.
"I have done a few laps around Taupo and the bike feels great, it will be great to get into some racing," said Rees from his Whakatane base this week.
Round one of the championships is next weekend Dec 4/5 at Ruapuna Raceway, just outside Christchurch and will see the biggest and best field of Superbikes seen for many years.
"It is great to see all the major brands represented and I am looking forward to locking horns with some old rivals, like Andrew Stroud and Brian Bernard, " added Rees.
