DARRY ATKINS WRITES FROM
LAS VEGAS:

ROUND 7 - LAS VEGAS

Hi Everyone,

Las Vegas was the final round for the AMA Supermoto Championship at the Paris Hotel located on the Las Vegas Strip. I did spend a lot of time building up to Las Vegas training on my bike with my friend Ben Bostrom, winner of the Supermoto Championship last year and X-Games in August. We did burn up a lot of tires riding everyday for two weeks.

The Track in Vegas had a great dirt section built by Mark Peters. The only section I did not like all weekend was the rear road section after we went off the dirt, the asphalt was coming off and it was like riding on Ice. A lot of the Worlds best Supermoto racers came in from Europe including World Champion Eddy Seel, this is how it went for me.

TIME TRAINING - 10TH

HEAT RACE - 5TH

FINAL - 9TH

OVERALL CHAMPIONSHIP POSITION - 6TH

COMMENTS:
It was a tuff weekend for me, I could not ride a section of the track fast and it really cost me. I went to Vegas to try to move up to 6th in the Championship and even though my result was not what I wanted for the day, I was really happy to finish my first year of racing Supermoto inside the top ten with 6th.
