NZ Farewells Top Enduro Rider

Posted: Tue 03 Aug 2004

Chris Birch and partner Monica Brady are heading off to the UK for 12 months in October.

Both Chris and Monica have family there, and through Heytrack NZ Chris is hoping to get the chance to ride for KTM in the British Enduro Series and (hopefully ) Europe.

There are no concrete plans as yet, but with Chris's success in NZ he is certainly heading off overseas with a significant CV.

2004 has probably been Chris's most successfull year ever, having won the Expert Class in the Central Enduro Series(winning every round ), the Expert Over 200 Class in the National Enduro Series,(5 wins out of 6 rounds), the Tarawera 100, and a Gold Medal in the Aussie 4-day.

A Silver medal at the Brazil ISDE towards the end of 03 was also a real highlight of his motorcycling career (which started way back in 1986 on a PW50!)

Chris is keen to be back for 2006, not only for the ISDE, but also for the World Downhill Mountain Bike Champs in Rotorua. (Chris is also a very profficient downhill racer and won several National Championship rounds this year "for a bit of fun ".)

Chris would like to thank everyone for their support. Too many to mention, but especially Paul Ottaway of Heytrack NZ (KTM) and Steve and Terry Bridge at Darbi Accessories
