World Speedway Long Track Champion, Germany’s Robert Barth is well on the way to resuming the defence of his crown, after racing in two events last weekend.

Barth raced in an International Team league event for his club Landshut against the Italian club Lonigo on Friday night. He had two wins and a second, along with a non finish due to engine failure. He then went on to race at Werlte on Saturday night in a grass long track event against the World’s best.

The finishing order was Stefan Katt (Germany) first, Theo Pijper (Holland) second, Matthias Kroeger (Germany) third, Bernd Diener (Germany) fourth, Zdenk Schneiderwind (Czech) fifth and Barth sixth.

"I feel OK, but still need more strength in my hand," Barth commented on Saturday night

Barth is confident he will be fit to race at round three of the Championship, the German Prix at Pfarrkirchen on August 29
