COPPINS REMAINS WITH CAS HONDA

New Zealander Josh Coppins has agreed to stay with the CAS Honda team for another year. The 27-year-old has been one of the most consistent riders in the MX1 class this year and presently holds down second place in the championship points will once again ride the MX1 class for CAS in 2005. For Coppins it's about being involved in a team which is looking out for his best interests.

"I am really happy to stay with CAS," Coppins said. "They are an honest team, and one that has a family atmosphere, which I really like. We have also got the Honda 450 sorted now, and I am really feeling like I can improve on it for next year."

While Coppins is glad he won't be changing teams for the 2005 season, team manager Neil Prince is sure the team have one of only three riders who are looking likely to be in contention for the championship in 05.

"I think if you look at it there is maybe Stefan Everts, Mickael Pichon and Josh Coppins who will probably be the main riders to be in contention next year," Prince said. "With Josh we can fight for the championship, and that has always been the goal of the team. Working with Josh has also been a great experience, he's a nice guy and never a problem."

As for team owner Harry Ainsworth, he is also looking at the professional and personal level. Coppins is somebody who Ainsworth knows will give it 100% and not back away from the heat of battle. Ainsworth has also enjoyed the 2004 season and seeing Coppins come back from his serious injuries and return to the top of the MX1 class.

"Josh is proven to everyone he is a fighter," Ainsworth said. "He is one of the nicest guys you could ever meet, and he is not complicated in any way. He really fits into the environment we want for this team. We also have ambitions, and winning a World championship is one of them, with Josh we feel we can do this."
