Putaruru Enduro a true test of character.

Posted: Mon 31 May 2004

The third round of the Suzuki National Enduro Championships were held at Pinedale, South of Putaruru on Sunday May 30th. The event was held in atrocious weather conditions with rain and wind all day.

99 riders started the event which was a good turnout considering what the weather was like leading up to the event.

Only 38 riders managed to complete the event even though it was cut short.

Chris Birch won overall with Sean Clarke second. Dene Humphries followed by Steven Bird in 4th and Todd Mardon rounding up the top 5 in the experts overall.

Full credits must go to all the intermediates that finished the event, what a grovell it turned out to be.

Simon Bicknell 1st intermediate overall home followed by Willie Rathbone 2nd and Allan Nunn 3rd, Peter Flexman 4th and rounding out the intermediate overall was Stephane Rondell.

In fact anyone who managed to complete the first lap deserved a medal as the track cut up severely and even a small hill turned into a major obstacle.

Unfortunately you cant control mother nature and that makes a huge difference to the rideability of the course.

On to the next round at Woodhill on the 27th of June.
