MNZ - Press Release:

NATIONAL 4 STROKE MOTOCROSS CHAMPS

Darryll King Scores Three Times

The old sporting adage,” form is temporary, class is permanent”, applies to motocross as much as any other sport. Former World Number Two, Darryll King, went through 2003 without collecting any NZ Motocross Titles; already in 2004, he has six in his treasury. He won a GP in January, both Supercross classes and now three 4 stroke skins.

The National 4 Stroke Championships were held near Te Awamutu over Easter. Darryll King contested three classes and won all three, on the way he won 13 of 15 races.

Current 125 Champion, Cody Cooper, was having his first outing in New Zealand since November, he was the only rider to beat King, and he did it twice.

Cooper won the 0-200 class, Darryll King won the 250, 450 and Open Classes. The other two titles went to Damon Smith (300-400cc) and Mary Perkins who took the Women’s Crown.

Current NZ Champion, Shayne King didn’t take away a title, with brother Darryll and Cody Cooper the weekend’s races provided a good shakedown before the Australian Motocross Championships which start next month.
