Cody @ Brisbane:

A shortened format, tough conditions and one of the longest straights in Australian supercross history provided some interesting challenges for the No Fear Honda Team at ANZ Stadium at Saturday night’s round of the SEL National series in Brisbane.

With one less round to contend with and with heat winners being able to proceed straight to the final, the pressure was on from the first drop of the gates. Having the bikes set up properly to ensure maximum speed on the three-second straight was also key and provided the 6,500 spectators with some added excitement.

The No Fear Team rose to the challenge with both Troy Dorron (Pro Open) and Jye Harvey (Pro Lite) dominating their first outings with ease. Cody Cooper also put in a phenomenal ride in his first heat making his way up through the pack resulting in a one-two finish for Honda in the lead up to the Pro Lite final.

Second time out, Cooper was unfortunately involved in a mishap just after the bridge which resulted in a restart of the race, and although he finished a strong third, Cody was later disqualified for using a different bike.

Cooper was obviously disappointed – “I felt really good and was looking forward to getting out on the track again. My bike was damaged in the semi and we had to rush to get the spare out there for the restart. We didn’t have enough time to notify the officials so that meant I was done for the night.”

Team Manager, Peter Luczkowski said “It was a little disappointing in terms of Cody’s disqualification since he was riding so well, but we still finished on the podium in both classes and that’s what it takes to win championships.
