SUMMERCROSS Entries Soar:

Entries for the annual Whakatane Christmas MotoX: SUMMERCROSS on December 27/28, have now reached the five hundred mark and are still arriving.

The SUMMERCROSS will be run at the Bay of Plenty Motorcycle Club’s home track at AWAKAPONGA, on Braemar Road, Matata.
The track will be sign posted from both SH30 and SH2.

The club has received entries from New Zealand’s two top International riders, Taupo’s Ben Townley and Motueka’s Josh Coppins, both of whom are at home, prior to returning the Europe to contest the 2004 World Motocross Championship.

It will be fantastic to see this calibre of rider out against the likes of the King brothers, Shayne from New Plymouth (New Zealand’s current 500cc and 250cc Champion) and Darryll from Hamilton, along with local rider Cody Cooper (New Zealand’s current 125cc Champion).

This year’s event is being run for the first time in association with the New Zealand Dirt Bike Federation and will incorporate their Senior, Junior and Mini motocross Championships.

The programme will also include an Invitation Feature race along with a Classic Vintage Motocross demonstration

So the place to be over the weekend between Christmas and New Year 2003, will be WHAKATANE.
