TEAM NEW ZEALAND QUALIFY SECOND IN ZOLDER:

And there is - More Here:

After two days of heavy Belgian rainfall caused a delay in Saturday’s Motocross Des Nations practice schedule, the skies finally cleared and not a moment too soon. Team New Zealand surprised all and sundry when Ben Townley, the talented teenager from Taupo, posted the second fastest qualifying time in his group with a blazing 1’43.231. Fellow New Zealand team mates, Josh Coppins and Shayne King went 3 and 9 in their qualifying groups, posting times of 1’41.991 and 1’45,940 respectively.

Townley, who has stepped up from his lighter factory 125cc machine to ride the more powerful 450cc bike for the event, seemed very comfortable on his semi-factory KTM. “I’ve only had two weeks on the bike so I’m quite pleased with my qualifying time. We need to get a good result in the semi tomorrow and the final could be anyone’s race!” said a confident Townley.

The Kiwi’s are favourites to win their semi final heat tomorrow and the dark horses are now looking like a sure bet for a podium finish- who knows, with a bit of lady luck on their side, they might even take a place in motocross history by being the first New Zealand team to take home the coveted title!
