The Taupo Motorcycle Club will be hosting its annual Energy Centre Point Labour Weekend Motocross Extravaganza, October 25th & 26th. The riveting Labour Weekend Extravaganza features its largest ever total prize and trophy purse, to the value of $19,000.

International star and Taupo’s own Ben Townley will be racing on his home turf, Digger McEwen track, which will see New Zealand’s best racers fight it out for their share of the purse.

550 riders competed at last years Labour Weekend Extravaganza over Saturday and Sunday. Saturday sees the Mini motocross riders compete on their own purpose built track. On the main track the Juniors, Vets, Women and Intermediate riders will be competing for Labour Weekend titles.

Sunday will see the big boys come out to play on a breathtaking, thrilling, high flying circuit, in their respective National and Expert classes. The feature race, the Nicky Smith Memorial will feature the top 10 of each class battling it out for New Zealand’s richest motocross race.

Thrilling entertainment will be provided by the Palmy FMX Freestylers as they perform their gravity defying high-air manoeuvres….. This amazing stunt jumping will be performed during lunch breaks both Saturday and Sunday. Sunday also features freefalling skydivers who will descend down on to New Zealand’s top motocross show, providing aerial antics as they arrive into the Digger McEwen track complex.

This superb race event is located on the outskirts of Taupo, in the local industrial area. Excellent track viewing and spectator facilities provide for a top day out.
Entry costs are: $5.00 per person or $20.00 per carload.
