BT SPLITS MOTO WINS WITH SWORD. - From Glen Dempsey.

Both BT and fellow kiwi 250cc rider Josh Coppins have driven through the night in order to race The Ken Hall International at the hillside circuit of Langrish in Hampshire, England.

The Taupo talent stepped off the podium at the German GP: into a motor-home, racing to catch the ferry which would take him to the white cliffs of Dover and then off to the Langrish circuit.

The Monday race saw a tired Townley, still recovering from a bout of flu, not to mention the drain of the previous day’s exertion, fighting with factory KTM team mate Eric Eggens in the first heat of the day. Local GP hero, Stephan Sword disappeared into the distance and BT managed to fend off Eggens as well as fending off a broken braking system to cross the chequered flag in second.

Sword was unfortunate enough to crash in the first turn of heat two as BT reciprocally disappeared into the sunset. The race was ended prematurely when an injured rider blocked the main racing line, which meant that factory KTM rider would pip Sword to the overall win.

Townley opted not to ride the “Super Final” which combines the lighter 125 machines with the heavier open class bikes. A wise move for the youngster in order to recover before heading off this week to the penultimate round of the Grand Prix world championships in Loket - Czech Republic.
