Hepburn To Race Bikes And Trucks

Posted: Tue 22 Jul 2003

Timaru\'s John Hepburn didn\'t stay retired for very long.

Hepburn is preparing for a full on season in 2003/2004.

As well as racing an Aprilia RSV 1000 R motorcycle in all the major road race events around the country, he has also done a deal with RV COPPER TRUCK RACING, to race their KM Bedford this season.

The 750 hp of the 6V 92 Detroit is a long way from the 1000cc he is used to from his Superbike.

Hepburn did his first testing in the truck last weekend at Manfeild and is very enthusiastic about truck racing.

\"I haven\'t had that much fun in ages,\" said Hepburn after testing.

Hepburn will be travelling all over this year, with the combined programme.

But will be able to race both of his machines at the same event in his hometown, when bikes join trucks and cars at the January meeting at Levels Raceway, outside Timaru.

Hepburn, one of New Zealand\'s most popular and colorful motorcycle racers; looks set to success in his new Motorsport venture.
