‘Suzuki Trail Sprint’

Lets face it. A lot of you go to a trail ride with your mates and you race them. Sure you are trail riding, but at the end of the day you are pretty keen to know just how you measure up. Well now is your chance with the brand new Suzuki Trail Sprint taking place 20 July.
The event is mainly a good fun non-competitive trail ride from 10 am to 2 pm. Then at 3 pm the trail sprint starts with riders racing off in pairs against the clock. There is no massed start and the whole race thing will be fairly low key. If you don’t want to give the trail sprint a go, then you can grab a tea or coffee and watch the action close to the base.

20 minutes South East of Taupo at the Southern tip of the Kaingaroa Forest just off State Highway 5 lies the region of Iwitahi. In the middle of Iwitahi is an old forestry camp that has now been converted to an Outdoor Education centre which forms the base for the ride.
The venue of National Enduros in days gone by, Iwitahi is a fantastic riding area. The soil type is the famous volcanic ash that berms ups so well and provides all weather riding amongst the pines. Plus there are those great firebreaks besides the highway where you can really wind your machine up…

There will be one main forest trail of at least 40 km plus one kids track and a novice track.
The event caters for all abilities and will be suitable for family groups and novice riders. A Senior rider will look after the youngins, so Parents can ride the main trail knowing their kids will be looked after.

A sausage sizzle and hot shower at the camp at the end of the day will freshen you up for your journey home.
Sign on takes place in the main hall with free tea and coffee supplied all day.

You can enter on the day for $25. Families $20 per person.
There is no pre entry.

If you want to make a real social weekend out of it then book to stay in a cabin at the camp on the Saturday night prior. Then when you wake up, you can roll out of your sleeping bag, onto your bike ready to hit the trails.

So whether you are a young person, novice, trail rider, or trail racer then the new Suzuki Trail Sprint should have something for you…
