Merriman on track for his third World Enduro Title:
Today in Jamsa the weather did a complete backflip from yesterday and provided dry sunny conditions. Yesterday the temperature struggled to reach above 10 degrees, today it was mid twenties and sunny clear skies. As the tests dried out they became more difficult, as the sand turns to fine powder but Merriman held his form from yesterday.
Merriman said, \'It was difficult to try and ride conservatively and do good times. Although my personal goal is to win the outright, it is more important to win the class. The unusal time checks setup with fuelling in different places I really had to concentrate on doing everything correct to prevent penalties. The trail today became quite difficult and very easy to get stuck in the deep mudholes and required full effort. At one stage I had to get off the bike and lift it out of the mud. As a foreigner here, I have a bit of difficulty reading the forest - I cannot tell when the grassy patch in front of me is hard or swamp underneath. As I did not get a break in the trails, it made it harder for me to put full effort into the specials.\'
\'Today Salminen and Aro were very fast and focused. Samuli and Cervantes have nothing to lose and everything to gain, so they can take as many risks as they want. Two of the three tests are deep sand motocross tracks, so I am not surprised that they did so well. I am happy with my performance over the weekend and am pleased with my results.\'
