Shayne King Racing - Press Release

2003 Australian Thumper Championship
Round 1 Traralgon, Victoria Melbourne.

1996 world 500cc Motocross champion Shayne King started the Australian Thumper championships with a hat trick of wins in Traralgon in the weekend.

After a 2nd overall in the Australian Motocross championships two weeks prior to the start of the thumper series Shayne produced a flawless weekend aboard his CRF450 Honda on a fast and technical natural terrain track , “Shayne said” What a weekend I had. Team Honda just built me an awesome new bike and I just felt like I was having so much fun out there the track was very fast and technical with a bit of rain in race one it was all about the start and my Bridgestone tyres just got me to the front each time.

In race one Shayne was sitting in 2nd behind Yamaha mounted Mick Cook on lap 1 and saw the same picture as round one of the motocross Nationals 3 months ago when he was 2nd behind Mick and went down hard while trying to pass which put a big dent in his points chase for the title with two non finishes that weekend, so he decided to just sit back until he found a clear path thru and then he just put the hammer down and winning by 5 seconds from Suzuki mounted Danny Ham.

Race 2 saw Shayne grab first place on lap one and never look back “Jimmy Mechanic to Shayne said” He was just looking so confident going into the race today and I was impressed how easy he made it look he was just so happy with his new bike also” Shayne won by over 10 seconds from Suzuki Mounted Danny Ham and 3rd was Yamaha Mounted Darryll King .

The final moto of the day saw Shayne grab the holeshot and just leave the rest of the field to fight amoungst them selfs “Shayne said, I got an awesome holeshot and just checked out I pushed as hard as I coul,d I have to thank all the people that support me as I have the best stuff on this planet.
Shayne won by 12 seconds from Darryll King in 2nd
