Blue Wing Honda Ltd. - Media Release:

Sensational series start for Castrol Honda Red Riders:

The first round of the Staintune Australian 4-stroke Nationals was held at Traralgon, Victoria over the weekend.

With the track in near perfect condition, Castrol Honda Red Riders Shayne King and Cody Cooper commenced their battle for this legendary Australian Championship, with Shayne demonstrating emphatically that he will be the man to beat in the series, winning 3 motos from 3 starts.

Fellow Castrol Honda Red Rider Cody Cooper riding for the O’Neal Honda racing team, made a brilliant transition from the CR125R, which he had campaigned at the Australian Motocross Nationals to finish fourth place in the series behind fellow Kiwi and Yamaha rider Darryll King.

Cody’s O’Neal Honda racing team mate the hard charging Shane Metcalfe finished the day in fifth position behind Cody ensuring a strong Honda presence at the top of the leader board.

Race Team Manager Dave Borlase said;” It was a great weekend for Shayne King and Cody Cooper and with 3 kiwis in the top four places in the Pro open class, it looks like the New Zealanders may feature well throughout the series. Damien King finished the day in 11th place overall in the Pro open class, which was a great effort considering he had fallen heavily during testing. It was also great to see New Zealand Motocross ace Mark Penny finishing well in the Pro lites class with a 5th placing overall”

Testing and Development will continue as the Castrol Honda Red Riders look to the next round of the 4-stroke Nationals to be held at Cessnock NSW on the 15th of June.
