Suzuki NI Enduro Wrap Up:

Posted: Tue 13 May 2003

The final round of the Suzuki North Island: Enduro champs were held at Woodhill last weekend.

100 riders competed at the final round which capped of a great Enduro series. The fields have been encouragingly large and herald a renewed enthusiasm for Enduros.

The main beneficiaries are as follows:
Chris Birch took the overall win for the Expert classes on the day and also the series overall title. Michael Gibbons finished 2nd overall followed by Sean Clarke 3rd and Mark Whyte 4th.
Rob Howe a relatively new name on the scene, from Thames put in a good effort to win the 0-200 Experts 2 T class.
Terry Cameron after a bit of retirement therapy and now riding a GasGas convincingly won the Experts over 35 Veterans class.
Steven Sargent from Central Hawkes Bay took out the Intermediate 0-200 2T class.
In the 16-19 years class Heath Howlett showed good form by winning the class but he also scored as high as 8th outright in a special test! Good to see the young guys keen and doing well.
The over 50s class was well received with a good number of old timers competing Brett Graham was the stand out performer with three wins from four starts. Chasing him all the way were Chris Ward, Kevin Sargent and Alan Chant.

Focus now turns towards the Suzuki NZ Enduro Championships: which starts in June the first round starts at Waimiha on the 15th June with the second round two weeks later at Rotoehu on the 29th.

A special thanks must go out to the four clubs that hosted the series and Silver Bullet: for scoring the results at each round.

And most importantly the series sponsors Suzuki NZ: and MNZ:

Cheers Sean Clarke
