Shayne King Charges in WA:

Castrol Honda Red Rider Shayne King again showed his winning form at the Australian Motocross Championships, held at the Coastal Motocross park, Western Australia, over the weekend. Shayne’s strong performance scored him 1st place in motos one and two and a 6th in the third and final moto of the Pro open class.

Castrol Honda Red Rider Shayne King showed a gritty performance was sufficient to elevate him from fourth place in the series to second place, overtaking Honda Australia rider Shane Metcalfe and finishing second (33 Points) behind Yamaha rider and brother Darryll King.

In the Pro lites class Castrol Honda Red Rider Cody Cooper had a disappointing final round with placing’s sufficient to secure a 5th place overall in the Championship.

Race team Manager Dave Borlase said “There is no doubt that the Australian campaign has been a tough series with the top 5 or 6 riders all capable of taking out the series. Personally it has been fantastic to see Shayne King apply himself to what was a huge task in the points race, following a DNF in the first round at Connondale, his commitment to finishing on the podium was a true reflection of his skill and attitude. His top placing caped off what has been a huge season for Shayne in both Australia and New Zealand”

Without the support of Glenn “Jimmy” McCartney, Darren Henderson and Simon Borlase the Australian Motocross Championship campaign would not have been the success it was, this is gratefully acknowledged by the other members Castrol Honda Red Riders team.

The Thumper Nationals will be the next battle for the team with the first round to be held at Traralgon, Victoria on the 17th of May.
