Wow! What reaction to the photos. I never expected so many people would find broken bones so interesting. Now, when can I go racing?

Well it’s almost the end of April and l haven’t yet raced this season. But I’m getting close. All my injuries are doing well and I plan to get back on the bike in the next few weeks! I’ve been training really hard in Europe, to help my fitness once I get back on the bike. But the truth is that racebike fitness is different. You can cycle and run all you want but riding is such a deal all of its own.

I had the chance to go and watch Valkenswaard, that was GP 2. I thought a GP was hard to ride, it’s even tougher to watch I can tell you. I didn’t really enjoy it much. It was good to see my friends again but I hated to watch the racing! It looks like the 250 2-stroke is good enough if not better than the 450 4-strokes, so I’m looking forward even more to getting back on my CR250.

Speaking of Honda they’ve been great to me during my injuries, especially Harry Ainsworth from CAS Honda. He’s my boss after all, and I can understand how it’s easy for a team boss to get pissed off when one of his racers gets hurt. In Harry’s case even more pissed off as his whole team is hurt at the moment! But the reality is that when you run a race team you have to expect injuries and other unforeseen problems That’s MX and it’s probably why we love it, it’s so unpredictable. I have to say my team has been great and I’m looking forward to getting back on the track and proving myself again.

Once I’m ready to start riding I’ll be in England, hanging out at the workshop. I’m looking forward to that: believe it or not I haven’t even been to the CAS workshop yet! And I’ve been “riding” for Harry for about seven months now …

I’m hoping I may be able to start racing again at GP 4, that’s the Italian round at Montevarchi. It’s the home town from my mechanic Fabio Santoni. It’s one of the circuits we rode last year when I won the Italian Championship.
Speaking of Fabio, he’s doing great. He’s a bit bored as he doesn’t have too much work to do but he’s loving life in England and he’s ready to work flat out once I get back on the bike.

I haven’t been up to much on the social front, just the movies a few times. I’ve been hanging out with Ben Townley, he’s hurt too! We went to the movies three nights in a row cos we were so bored. But now my girlfriend Lisa is with me for the week so I’m planning to go out a bit over the weekend.

The Supercross season in the US just about over! That went fast … but not for us riders who get hurt during it. Did you know that RC, Chad and Fonseca are the only three riders in the series to make every main event! I guess that shows how tough it is and how many injuries there’ve been this season.

Well I’ll tell you how it is once I’ve done some training on the bike. I can’t wait, I tell you!

Thanks for your support over the past months while I’ve been down and out. Thanks especially for all the kind wishes. Sorry I can’t reply to every message, I have some serious training to do ………….

Take it easy and ride safe!
