Ben at Bellpuig:

An E-mail from Vicki Townley to Silver Bullet:

Hi....time to put a few words down about the weekends event.

Until he arrived at the Bellpuig motocross circuit, Ben had not made a clear cut decision about riding at the opening event. He was very impressed with improvements and alterations made to the track since the GP in 2002. General fitness and riding at training sessions in the previous week influenced Ben\'s late decision to ride.

Timed practice was very ordinary for Ben, his best lap placed him 25th at the completion of the session. Ben went to the first qualifying race of the 125\'s and secured his start in Sunday\'s final, by gaining 9th place in the qualifying race.

With a change in the race format from the previous year the 125cc class went to the start line as the first event of the day. Ben got away to a good start, holding on to 6th place for the first 9 laps. At around the halfway point of the race he began to tire, then a small error cost him several places relegating him to 13th spot. He was able to maintain this position for the remainder of the race and collected valuable points for his effort.

He is looking forward to the next GP at Valkensvaard, Holland in 2 weeks time where he gained his first ever GP podium. There is no doubting he will putting his heart and soul into training over the next fortnight, looking for valuable seconds that he can shave off lap times to improve his results.

Yours in MX Vicki T.

We have not spoken with Ben since the race so looking forward to hearing how it all went etc. He and Craig are currently travelling home at the present time.
