Production:
Japanese motorcycle motorcycle production is nearly 10% less than the previous year, 2001, with 212,552 fewer motorcycles in 2002.
Meanwhile, BMW have achieved significant growth in the same period, with a total of 103,020 units sold, an increase of 8.1% compared to the previous year (95,327).

R&D:
Yamaha`s subsidiary Ohlins, best known for its suspension systems, has been developing a two-wheel drive system for the parent company`s prototype dirt bikes. Work has been going on since 1998 and the system is said to be close to fruition with a 2WD Yamaha in production as early as 2004.
Sounds like just the weapon for a muddy winters event in NZ.
