Saturday at Levels

Saturday was a hard day for some with Brad Selfe (Oamaru) losing his Honda CBR600 twice. He managed a spectacular high side in the first practice session and the a really big low side. His team have been slaving over the bike and it looks like it will be repaired and racing tomorrow. Brad is a little bit battered and bruised but basically OK.

In the Open Sports Production class John Hepburn had a big off but the team have the bike fixed and he will be racing on Sunday. In the meantime Jason McEwan (ZX9R) looks absolutely awesome, coming onto the front straight sideways with the gas full on.

In the Superbike class Andrew Stroud on the Britten, Tony Rees (GSX-R750) looked the fastest but Hepburn was keeping him honest. This definitely looks like a big showdown between the Britten, the Kawasaki of Dean Fulton and the 2 Suzukis.

In the FIII race Welshman Ian Lougher (RS125) and Christchurch Steven Ward (RS125) were both lapping the circuit faster than Dave Cole on his R1 Yamaha, with Ian eventually winning from Steve.

Hugh Reynolds won the FII race from Bruse Ansty.

In the 250 Production race Ivan Smith was first, followed by Anthony McCarthy on his Aprillia. Warren Turner (RGV250) was right with Ivan until his motor went pop. He tootled round on one cylinder to finish 4th only to find a gudgeon pin and most of a piston inside his exhaust pipe. The spare motor has now been fitted and he\'s all ready for Sunday.
