Top Supercross finish for Honda
HONDA: Press release:

Castrol Honda Red Rider Shayne King clinched the 250cc/Open New Zealand Supercross title at the final round held at Taupiri over the weekend.

Despite older Brother Darryll King winning on the night a solid performance through the series saw Shayne secure his 20th New Zealand title. Suzuki rider Mark Penny RM250 was 2nd with Damien King 3rd CRF450 overall for the series.

In the senior 125cc class Matamata Honda Rider, Mason Phillips, took the title despite having a major crash during the week, which forced him to sit out the 250cc/Open class. The big mover in the 125cc class was Damien King riding a Peter Glidden Honda supported CR125 who going into the event was sitting in fifth position. A solid performance on the night saw him move up to second place for the series behind Mason Phillips, with 3rd place going to Quentin Mackay riding YZF250.

Junior Rider Jesse Wiki won the title for the 12-16year olds 125cc class on his Peter Glidden Honda supported CR125.

Castrol Honda Red Rider Cody Cooper fresh back from competing in the Australian Supercross series and riding his practise bike CR125 showed his form by winning 2 out of 3 races in the 125cc class.

Race Team Manager Dave Borlase said, “It is good to see that Supercross in New Zealand is gaining momentum, the level of expertise in both riding and organisation is reflected by the large crowds attending these events.”
