Huge Turnout Kick Starts Enduro Champs:

The Suzuki North Island Enduro Championship, got off to a fantastic start with 140 plus riders, turning out to Round One at Hauturu, just west of Kawhia, on the North Island’s west coast.

With a hot, sunny day the big field did justice to all the hard work put in by the organisers of the series.

\"The turnout was amasing,\" said Enduro Commissioner Sean Clarke from Tokoroa yesterday.

Suzuki New Zealand has again agreed to sponsor this section of motorcycling racing and the turn out bodes well for the future, with New Zealand being awarded the 2006 ISDE.

Well it seems Enduros are very alive and well in 2003. If you weren`t there you should be dusting off that dirt bike that is gathering dust in your garage so you can get to ride the next round.

Junior wrote that the event provided 176 km for experts & 127 km for intermediates with 1 mx test & two enduro tests.

After finishing a creditable 2nd outright [first in class] he had to get attention for two broken bones in his wrist incurred in the second to last section and will be in plaster now for six weeks.
