Supermoto Sat 5 April - Taupo:

In what is set to be a 1 off yearly event, Bikemart (we\'re still working on other sponsors) is going to have another Supermoto day at Taupo. The part dirt, part tarmac layout already has Shayne King and Tony Rees signed up. The pair will \'captain\' the \'motocross\' and \'road race\' teams respectively and will both be gunning for individual glory.

Entry details will be in Bike Mart (on sale 10 Feb) and we hope to have full info including track map and complete class details on a new improved Supermotard.Co.NZ: by the end of the week.

With the early April date (next year we\'ll try for earlier still) we\'re going for a course that will favour close pattern/road tread. This means plenty of tyre racing miles (read \'cheap racing\' ). With all the Supermotard / Supermoto action over the last 12 months we\'ve seen the pace increase dramatically and we know there are even more of you out there ready to give Supermoto a go.

The classes are:
Quads, Grades; A, B, C (numbers permitting), Open, Sportsman, Lights and Adventurers*.
For your $45 entry ($65 late entry) you get 2 classes* ($30 for extra classes) and lap scored via transponders.
*numbers per class permitting.
Standard wheels and brake calipers.
Sportsman: 240cc-300cc 2 strokes and 371cc- 430cc 4 strokes.eg RM250, DRZ400, YZ400F...
Lights: 123cc-230cc 2 strokes and 200-370cc 4 stokes. eg RM125, YZ250F, KLX300...
Adventurers: Non competition based big trailies. eg BMW F650, Suzuki DR650, Kawasaki KLR650, Yamaha XT600.

To keep things affordable (and so poofta\'s don\'t have an excuse) The above classes must retain their standard rims, calipers and suspension travel. (otherwise you\'ll be transfered up a class ie Lights to Sportsman. Sportsman to Open. Adventures to Open.) Remember you can get road tyres for 21\" rims, get different rotors and take all the air out of your forks. You can also dial in all the rebound and dial out most of the compression (damping). Non competition based bikes move down from the Sportsman class to the Lights class. Eg DR350.

Supermotard Practice?
Tomorrow (Tuesday 4 Feb) Boyd Honda is having a track day at the Taupo track. For $60 you can ride around the track. A van is leaving the shop at 7:30am or you can catch them at the track after 10:00am. Call Greg on his mobile if you need any other details. 025 916 532.

Supermotard Race:
The Taumarunui MCC is running a Bucket/ Supermotard event on the 15th of March. Give Ackey a call at Bike Torque 07 895 7994. The track is very smooth with 4 left and 1 right turn , on the front straight top speed will not exceed 135 kph unless you are very good supplementary regs, Nylon or similar protectors on end of bars footpegs and axles to protect the track. THIS IS A MUST HAVE.
MNZ permit applied for as many classes as entries require, give us a call to find out all the saliva inducing details.
